I usually get 20 minutes of good free-flow time with West 207 (using East resin) and about 10 minutes of hecktik behaviour to use up what I haven't used. Quite often I mix a fairly large batch, toss it all in the middle of the hull (glass all laid out, of course) and use a plastic spreader to spread it fast. I used to take more time to do the spreading using smaller batches but I have found that I can rush it if I have pre-planned for all possible problems that might occur. To repeat, you have 20 good minutes, then it's a rush to use it up as it noticeably thickens. My advice would be to be more relaxed and make smaller batches, 4-oz or smaller. I think I generally mix a pint or so at a time for the major hull jobs. Make sure you have that cold Guinness on the side, eh!
