You could always just double that frame (the one in front of the seat) and then cut the depth in half. Should make for a nearly flush frame if not completely flush and would also make the frame at the top of your legs less of a problem. I want to try that on my next Yost build, perhaps with the class this winter. It does mean cutting an extra frame, but that's not all that difficult.
