: Hello all,
: I sanded and sanded from 60 grit up to 220. I used a small brush with 75%
: bleach/ 25% water on the pine accent stripes to brighten them up without
: lightening the cedar any further. She's almost ready to skim-coat with
: West System which is nescessary due to some small gaps where the wood has
: expanded and then contracted when it dried out. (small being fractions of
: a millimeter) You can see in the picture a little staining that's left
: aroumd the holes for the deck hardware, but the deck lines will cover
: that, and it's too deep to sand out. I have thoroughly saturated it with
: bleach to kill any remaining fungus.
I think the staining will add character and a sort of beauty to the boat when its finished. Post pics when finished. I pulled the outer skin off my canoe about three years ago. It was accomplished with a heat gun and a dull scraper.
