Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I think that when the frame is new and bright it looks very dramatic under a clear skin. Of course this is also the cheapest way to get the boat in the water, so my thinking may be 'colored' by 'clear'.

I've been very happy with a vinyl cement called VLP. ( I assume the letters stand for something like Vinyl Liquid Plastic, but that is just my guess. ) I've seen it at Jo-Ann fabrics, craft stores, and Ace Hardware stores--in their adhesives aisle. You might try Home Depot.

The HH-66 glue Yost uses would be fine too. He uses it as a contact cement, with some added heat . It is a full-strength bond once it cools to room temperature--a matter of seconds. VLP is used wet, and takes a few hours to develop full strength.

With a wood frame stapling is the way to go. You can find rust-resistant monel staples at Home Depot, or stainless steel staples from online suppliers.That, or use solid copper tacks--available by mail from Clark-Craft www.clarkcraft.com '.

You can use plain steel staples to hold your vinyl in place while it is being glued , then pull the staples and seal the holes with a couple drops of VLP. Or, look at how Yost laces up the PVC skins before he glues them. A few holes punched in the waste area, are all it takes. Cut away the excess after the glue hardens.
