Thanks!
: The knuckle chine would be in the forward half for buoyancy, and likely come
: back to the back of the cockpit, to provide just a little big more
: secondary stability in a hard edging situation. Brian has pulled the
: chines up at the stern so that the water flows off smoothly, giving it a
: good turn of speed for a shorter boat. Also, the stern would act kinda
: skeg-like, making for stiffer handling for cruising. Also, designed the
: hard chines so that it could hold a wave for surfing. The boat is large
: volume, because Brian wanted decent storage volume for his coastal camping
: expeditions. I expect that, as a day paddler/surf rig, it would have
: fairly high windage, but loaded down on the Pacific Coast, it would be
: well behaved. Brian really likes the Pygmy Coho, and you can see that
: influence in the F1. Brian also likes to sit with his knees bent and
: splayed, more comfortable on his back, so that's why the keyhole cockpit,
: and not something smaller with a flatter masik like a Greenland SOF.
: I've only ever paddled one for 15 or 20 minutes in calm conditions, so I
: don't really know. I just felt like I was swimming in it, but my main boat
: is only 19" wide, and my next boat will be a '59 Illorsuit (Ken
: Taylor) replica, and that has a really flat masik, sooooo....
: Brian
