Hey all, I've been a lurker here for a long time, I'm finally getting back to work on a S&G cirrus I started almost three years ago and as I get closer and closer to finishing I'm trying to make up my mind on the details.
I'm planing to learn to paddle in this boat, I have paddled a friends Chesapeake 17 and several SOT's before but this will be my first boat. My goal is to in a year or two paddle around Isle Royale National Park in the middle of lake Superior for a week or two.
My question is what are the pro's and con's of a recessed coaming. I've done some searches and I can't seem to find anything other then a recessed coaming is better for rolling because you can lean back better. Are there any disadvantages? I do plan to learn to roll, in lake superior's cold water a wet exit is not going to be pleasant. Thanks all for your input...
