I unfortunately had to go the expensive route. I have a 1 ton pick-up with a canopy so the top of the vehicle is out of reach without having to stand on a chair. This did not sound to me like a reasonable option for my Cape Ann double weighing in at 73 pounds. So I opted for the Thule Hullavator, it is expensive but I only have to lift the yak a little higher than my waist and with the assist lifting to help get it the rest of the way it is very easy to do by myself. I am extremely happy with it and glad that I went that direction.
