Orgen Karlsen from Norway has posted some things on the Qajaq USA web site about what he uses. If you search you'll probably run across it. If I remember correctly he uses a traditional linseed oil-based paint and uses Coelan as the top final coat. I can't remember if he uses canvas or nylon, but I know there is a link to multiple building projects.
