In the picture I have used MDF and shelving chipboard. I also use Plywood that I have lying around the place. If I know that I am not going to use forms for a particular boat again I use them again by cutting smaller forms for a new boat out of them. That is why there are multiple screw holes in some of the forms.

Ply and chipboard definitely hold staples and pins better, but MDF is ok too.
