: Saw a 'new and improved' approach somewhere - don't recall where - in which,
: rather than cutting the hatchcover off and trying to re-align with the
: hull while the rim moulding is setting up - they cut the hatch out except
: for four, 1 cm spots, keeping the hatch perfectly aligned. After the
: moulded rim was removed, the hatch was completely cut out, and proceed as
: usual. Note - I haven't done this, myself, but it's how I plan to do it.

Sounds like a good idea, though I think I'd personally leave a little wider connection at the front and back edges, perhaps 2" to 3" wide then cut out all the rest. The hard part of cutting out the hatch is starting the cut without messing up the finish, doing it four times for each hatch would seem to increase the odds of screwing up.

Btw, for anyone thinking about this method, clear adhesive shelf paper works really well as a mold release and is cheap and easy to obtain, most grocery stores have it.
