Thanks for sharing that picture. It brings back memories of the time my roomate and I moved the contents of an apartment using 2 old bugs. The couch went on the roof, with the back hanging down the left side. Absolutely no visibility to the left for the driver.
You don't need a roof rack for a bug, just throw a blacket on top and tie on your cargo.
