Yep, I guess like minds think alike. Here's how I brought the wood home for my skin on frame. I am still going to put a yakima rack with the Load Warrior basket, hully rollers, and one "sideways" kayak rack for the SOF. I like the Load Warrior because when I get stuff too big to cram in the back I can just throw it up top. By the way, the engine for this bug was built by me inside-out with big valve heads, forged chromolly internals, lightened flywheel, 75 amp alternator, etc, etc. Next up is suspension. I call her the "Battle Bug." I fabricated the external oil cooler on the back. It's right in the slipstream and it's on top of the air dam which deflects cold air to the carb, while the warm air from the cooler exits across the exhaust. I put an aluminum fan housing that eliminates the stock oil cooler which in my opinion just blows hot air over the port side of the engine. Now it gets cold air on both sides, yet the oil cooling is more than doubled. The engine stays cool on the hottest days climbing the biggest hills or stuck in traffic. I plumbed it (on the other side) with braided lines. It looks cool, but it's really just functional.
