Man, you got that right. Nick's S&G Night Heron has spoiled me with its lightness, easier handling, dime-turning and quick acceleration. The VJ does truly feel like a barge with its 24 1/2" beam and 45-lb weight. For a long trip, though (30-odd days in the wilderness), I'd still rather have the VJ along but for weekend things, the NH gets my vote hands down. However, I remember when Mike (deceased now) used his Night Heron stripper to kayak from Washington to Alaska. With adequate ground support, he had an amazing ride.
