: Increase the stability of your boat at rest by using a temporary pontoon.

With the proper deck rigging you can use GP for this purpose. Wedge one end under the rigging and let the other end extend out perpendicular to the boat while you attach a spray skirt or otherwise fiddle around. No float is needed since the paddle itself makes a pretty darn good float.
