Yea and no.

It was prefabricated, but it was me that prefabricated it.

I assembled that strip before I put it on the kayak. In fact it was the first bit of the kayak I built.

It was not as fiddly as might appear.

I posted an explanation about how it was done on the Blue Heron Kayaks forum.
