: Just a note on process-

: I have used the flame pre-treatment to laminate glass onto PVC using West
: 105/207, and it worked scary good. I masked before I flamed, flamed,
: removed the masking, and remasked before the wet-out. Some epoxy got under
: the tape and stuck to non-flamed PVC. After it was fully cured it popped
: right off, but stopped at the edge of the flamed stuff. It is REALLY well
: adhered to that.

Hmmmm, that is interesting!! The flame treatment is definitely one of the first things I'm going to try. I mean, if the stuff doesn't catch on fire, shrink, or easily burn, then it can only help. Even if the bonding of the epoxy to the Spectra isn't as good as with an aramid or glass fiber, I still think it will allow the Spectra to do its part on the exterior of the lamination schedule. Spectra is most commonly found in Ripstop fabrics, where it is meant to guarantee that when the bulk of the fabric fails (nylon i believe), then the Spectra will stop it from going further. Its also used in cut-resistant gloves. Its use in my lamination schedule is that any impact on the hull of a whitewater boat will hopefully place the glass and kevlar in my S-K-S-K lamination schedule largely in compression and tension, especially protection that outter layer from being ripped or cut into. We'll see~
