Yep a stability factor can be mathematically determined and might be useful for some when comparing boats. It is calculated on assumptions such as paddlers CoG, kayaks CoG, Cargo CoG, blah blah blah. However, it is a guide only. Actual stability is subjective and individual paddlers will each have their own ideas of stability based on their actual ability. So stability and ability are interrelated.
In gord's case, based on the info he has provided, I am certain that some work on ability will have him feeling very comfortable in his Cirrus. Afterall, the CirrusLt is not considered a tippy boat. His height and weight are perfect for the Cirrus Lt.
Now if he is looking for an excuse to build another boat then go for it Gord.
