Actually it sounds like you've got the strongback up too high. It takes some time to find the ideal height to work. Most sawhorses are too tall for a base, for me about 18" sawhorse height seems to work best for most people in the classes I teach, with the strongback another 5" taller it tends to put the boat at a comfortable working height. Most sawhorses are around 24" tall so the boat's up another 6", makes sanding and reaching over it for glassing tricky. Have to adjust this if you're exceptionally tall or short and if your strongback is higher or lower.
