: I'm at that stage of cutting out the cockpit, and building a coaming. My
: intent is to follow Vaclav's method - but finding 'bendable birch' is
: tougher than I'd anticipated. I'd like to use 1/8"; my local
: lumberyard will order in a doorskin, but the 'bend' runs 90 degrees to my
: interests - and it's $80. Seems a bit steep, but.... ? I'm familiar with
: using the cedar strips to build the riser, but the ply looks easier, and
: perhaps 'cleaner'. Menards laughed when I asked; maybe a hobbyshop? Ideas
: appreciated.
Not familiar with that method, but you can buy 1/8" birch or even 1/16" birch ply from either hobby or craft stores relatively inexpensively. Not huge sheets, but you don't need huge sheets.
