From the little I saw of the video (dial-up not broadband) it would appear to be the same as fitted to one of my sea kayaks (double) back in 1991(?). If it wasn't patented before that, then "prior knowledge" would stop it being patented in this country and many others. Yes, I give you permission to go ahead.... As if that actually means much as you don't seem to want to go into commercial production.

A similar case covers the Navigator rudder, in production by two companies in New Zealand a decade before KajakSports produced their first one. Also that silly rudder that retracts vertically - I ditched that idea (stopped producing them)about 15 years ago.
