You will definitely need to drill out the holes to fit your deck line. Make them slightly undersize and twist the cord into them. BTW, you can also get 1" balls at craft stores. I like them much better than the 3/4" balls for the bow and stern lines. I use the 3/4" on the perimeter lines.
