: Hi,
: Thanks for the responses. And letting me know the name for the process :-). I
: figured it would work, but wasn't sure.
: Yes, the finish wouldn't be as good straight off as from a mould, but as
: someone stated it would be easier than making a new mould. Or copy the
: boat, and use that (smooth) inner surface as a female mould?
: I knew someone would bring up the copyright issue! :-)
: Bill, I was going to copy a K1 too (and may do now it works). The original
: was designed by a friend so no copyright issues there.
: Will post pics if I do it!
: Thanks,
: Darren
Darren,
Cool, if you do I'd love to see the pix of it.
Btw, there are several posts on this, as well as other forums, for taking lines off an existing hull so it could be re-created later on. This may well be what I'll do with the old K1 around here if I get the chance. Would be relatively easy to build one as a stripper once you had the lines.
I suspect, though don't really know for sure, that if a race boat isn't really current that it's design really matters to much of anyone, not a giant demand for slow race boats afterall
The boat I've been trying to borrow is a fairly old, 20 year old I suspect, K1, not exactly competetive anymore, assuming it ever was. Not sure if there is a documented history of old K1's or 2's, would be interesting to me at least if there was.
