And be careful what kind of African Mahogany it is. (There is a good article on Mahoganies in recent issues of both Fine Woodworking and Wooden Boat) Sapele, or Ribbon Mahogany is very difficult to work with because of its reversing grain. (That's what makes the "ribbons") I would definitely avoid it unless you only plan to sand it and don't have to plane it to the correct thickness.
