That's the way 90% or more of the VOLKSKAYAKs are built - seams only taped, with multiple costs of epoxy inside and out over the marine ply. I do glass the cockpit floor, tho, partly to add strenght, but mostly to protect against abrasion of the epoxy by the grit that gets tracked into the boat. I also add an additional satrip of FG cloth along the keelline, again to protect against abrasion. My first VK, the RightWind, was built in 2001, and there is absolutely no deterioration of the encapsulated wood to date.
