: with multiple costs of epoxy inside and out over the marine ply. I do
: glass the cockpit floor, tho, partly to add strenght, but mostly to
: protect against abrasion of the epoxy by the grit that gets tracked into
: the boat. I also add an additional satrip of FG cloth along the keelline,
: again to protect against abrasion. My first VK, the RightWind, was built
: in 2001, and there is absolutely no deterioration of the encapsulated wood
: to date.

With the glass I've been using, 3.2 ounce, you could glass the exterior and likely not add as much weight as adding several coats of epoxy and it might actually be cheaper and would certainly be more rugged. Got the glass from Thayercraft, they are online and have by far the best prices on glass. A half roll (50 yards) was around $60.
