Heya, Bill...it's actually pretty easy to make your own spray skirt. I did that for my rebuilt kayak. I reshaped the cockpit opening so that my ex could get in and out of it more easily and had to make the skirt to fit. I used rolled newspaper scraps from the Edmonton Journal offices (they have a bin of scrap rolls at the door) and traced the opening onto the paper. I added about 1 1/2 inches extra and transfered the shape to some poly-whatever water-proof stuff. I then sewed the edges to make the support for the bungie tie. The tube was made in much the same way, measured my gut, cut the material allowing for the sewing, made another seamed edge at the top of the tube for another bungie and viola, a decent skirt was made. It worked well when I tested it out. I think that skirt is still sitting in the old garage along side the rebuild, collecting dust. Some day I will get both back (left her the rebuild: long story)...ain't nothing the ex can do with a kayak that isn't quite finished and I know sooner or later I will get it back.
