: and most common locally available wood, and can you get it clear and

: go down to the local building centre and flip stud grade boards for an

Still a very light weight wood like WRC can equal a much lighter boat. My 19 1/2' modified Sea Ranger weighs less than the class built Sea Bee because the SR is framed with WRC and the SB is framed with western pine. The Sea Bee is six feet shorter btw.
