Where did you get your skin? It sounds like it might be treated with something. I've only used the acid dye once, I used Skinboats instructions and it penetrated just fine. I would try some experiments with your cut offs. Maybe dampen them first. it might just be surface tension. Recheck the instructions too, what kind and ratio of vinegar did you use?
