Thanks Etienne for your vote of confidence but I don't have the right space to do the finishing coats (too dusty, dark, and now with winter approaching cold)and I really don't know how many more coats, what I should be looking for in the finish. Never mind the seat and the hardware. The only reason I got as far as I did is because I had an experienced person working with me. So.....still seeking help with finishing my kayak!

Hi Barb
: I hope I am not being presumptuous in giving this advice, but after three
: years building the boat I feel positive that you are perfectly able to
: complete the project without further hands on help.
: I wonder if you have not been an apprentice for too long, and I wonder if
: perhaps too much help has actually slowed down your project.
: Too much help, even from (and sometimes especially from) experts, can
: actually cause you to loose confidence in your own abilities on a project
: like this.
: If I were you I would proceed, with care, on my own.
: If you read the instructions on the tins and on the plans (TWICE), and if you
: ask for help here on this BB, you really can do it on your own.
: You are so close now to actually being able to use you boat that I think you
: should forge on and not wait. You have waited long enough.
: JUST GO FOR IT, And post us a picture when it is done.
: Wishing all the best
: Etienne
