: KBB PAINT POSTING
: Enamel will almost certainly cause adhesion problems with epoxy. I
: have successfully used poster paint under epoxy, however. It
: doesn't seem to create a barrier layer; made up as it is of just
: powdered pigment and water, it seems to be inert, and plenty
: porous enough to allow a good bond. I suggest you try
: experimenting on sample panels before committing, however.
: On two Cohos and a Tern 14 I used oil-based enamel to paint on top
: of the epoxy, adding colored sheer stripes and end details, and
: also painting the rather unattractive (imo) stacked plywood
: coamings and lips. Then I varnished over the paint, which gave
: everything a nice glow and provided some protection for the
: paint--see photos.

As long as the paint doesn't cover the entire surface, I suspect that almost any paint that's fully cured will work under epoxy. Just have to understand that many paints take a very long time to fully cure.
