Those 2-3 boat lengths can be hard to get back. The surfskis need the rocker for downwind racing (which is there primary function) as well as surf exits and re-entries. The rocker at the front is needed to help prevent "pearl diving" when on a wave or runner and the rear rocker allows the smallest of runners to pick up up the back of the boat. I suspect that we will start to see more ocean racing kayaks with surfski geometry hitting the market before too long.
