What little I know suggests that Dacron is a strong stable fabric that can probably be pulled around a bit when wet with epoxy.
Not that you would want to get into a situation where you would NEED to, but as an escape hatch the option is open.

I was mulling through it and thought that just MAYBE a first cloth layer could be tensioned and held in place for the initial pour.
Once all the gaps are bridged the spreading technique may be not quite so critical.

I've asked if he can make up a cardboard core kit for a stand-up paddle board.
Other than that, I don't think I will be doing much with this approach, but it IS interesting.
