: Epoxy and lashing is the plan at the moment.

I've not tried this with a canoe (yet) but normally with a kayak, if the structure is secured to the strongback prior to being epoxied so the parts are fixed in position they tend to stay in that position after the epoxy sets up and they are removed from the strongback. I've had to put a bit of twist into kayaks before because of the wood on opposite sides of the boats differences in bending characteristics and once the epoxy had set and the boat removed from the strongback, the boat was nice and straight. It's an advantage to using a strongback also for using epoxy.
