: What little I know suggests that Dacron is a strong stable fabric

: Not that you would want to get into a situation where you would

: I was mulling through it and thought that just MAYBE a first cloth

: Once all the gaps are bridged the spreading technique may be not

: I've asked if he can make up a cardboard core kit for a stand-up

: Other than that, I don't think I will be doing much with this

One of the problems of what he's trying to do is that glass fabric was never intended to be wet out all by itself. It's normally applied over a substrate of some sort, like we do with kayaks over wood, or done in a mold with the mold being the substrate. The resin tends to drain out of the weave leaving it full of pinholes if used alone.
Actually the Dacron wetted out with resin behaves much like it does dry, it's not very stretchy. Has an advantage used with fiberglass as it acts as the substrate keeping the weave filled with epoxy. I've been through a bunch of combinations getting this process to work, lots of icky messes of fabric/resin that got tossed with failed experiments :)
