I was looking at some baidarka pictures in Wolfghang Brinck's book and except for the bifurcated stem you boat seems too modern to be called a baidarka.
Baidarkas have long, very tapered, front sections with the cockpit set well behind the center and have a rim that is flush with the deck. The ridgepole of the decks forms almost a level line from stem to stern.
: Working on a Baidarka styled boat for a while now. I am not trying
: for a replica look, you might call this a modern version of the
: Baidarka? Larger cockpit with a knee's up sitting position. I
: used the same stern design as on Curlew. I was inspires by the
: Baidarka stern but wanted something a little different.
: Kind of mixed feelings on this. Overall I am pretty happy but I
: still find myself not quite happy. Usually a sign I need to do
: something. But what?
