I didn't see the bearing on top either. Really didn't look at the bit till now. Those types of bits are meant to be run without having to have a fence. If your doing straight edges a fence will not hurt anything though. You set the bit height so that part of the stock is against the bearing and feed the wood AGAINST the cutters rotation. You want the cutter direction of spin to be pushing against the wood as you feed it. Not trying to pull the wood away from you.
I do this all the time but I am very careful to pay attention to where my hands are in case something slips.
