: I have been looking into a
: penetrating epoxy, I've read it is higher in solvents to find
: it's way in pores and the spider cracks
As Bill indicated, this is probably a waste of time and money. You can't easily repair or prevent spider cracks in a boat that's prone to them.
: I will repair on the
: hull, then go with a marine paint for UV protection. I will be
: assisted by a local pro if I can get my money right.
If money is an issue and the boat still has a decent amount of gelcoat on it, repairing damaged areas with gelcoat, then sanding and buffing it yourself is WAY cheaper than paying someone, since you're providing the most expensive part, the labor. On a hull, I wouldn't be overly concerned with getting a perfect finish, since it's just going to get beaten up again. If you want to make the boat look good, put your effort into the deck finish.
