If you read the entire coelan site, somewhere I think they say that coelan can be used for repairing/stabilizing cracked substrates, but I don't remember if it says so there or in the pile of paper documentation I have from them. I know that people do use it over other coverings, because it's been discussed on the Qajaq USA forum a few times. It's relevant because if you use something stiff underneath and it cracks, coelan may be able to make it useable again. If you're interested in it more, maybe you could do some archive search on the Qajaq USA forum and drop Orgen a note about his experience using Coelan that way.
