Interesting issue, one I've wrestled with on my current build (temporarily halted due to the unfortunate winter). As my daughter felt she might be compelled to let others paddle this yak, we've leaned toward the Yakimas (which I bought from Mr. Benham), installed with flushmount McMaster Carr Stainless. In a perfect world (one boat/person, minimum), I'd opt for the bulkhead footrests.
