: on a first kayak it might make sense to glass the insides first, as
: they will be well and truly hidden. first the inside of deck,
: since glassing the inside sides of the hull - almost vertical -
: is trickier.
: if one needs to store the parts over a longer time, putting the
: forms inside and fixing them with drops of hot glue is probably
: wise. and when the deck is on and in place, one can tape around
: the hull to keep everything in place. packing straps work fine
: too, if one happens to have some.
: greetings,
: risto
: who had the parts of his Njord stored four months last winter - no
: problems at all.
Unless you plan on making another complete set of forms (exterior, or outside forms), you can't glass the insides first, taken off the forms the hull pre-glass isn't really strong enough to support itself without changing shape when you're glassing. Once the outsides are glassed it's much more stable.
