In my experience, mahogany won't make as tight of a bend as oak or ash, so it may not work so well for ribs. I tried bending 3/8" mahogany into a coaming hoop and despite having great wood to work with, I couldn't get it to bend enough. By all means give it a try, but I wouldn't cut a lot of rib stock until you get a chance to test it.
