I have always left the kayak on the forms as long as possible and have never encountered any problem doing that.

I think that keeping the strips on the forms until after the outside is glassed helps it retain its shape.

I don't think the pressure applied with the ROS or the fairing board is enough to distort the shape between the forms except close to the join line.
