What normally seems to happen for me is the glue that squeezes out on the inside sticks the hull or deck strips to the forms. That holds them in place until the forms can be removed. Most of the time the forms have to be knocked out with a light tap. If you have done as good of job with the glue that there was no excess then you may need to go with the hot glue. I would want the strips snug to the forms before the glass is done. This could be done by squirting a small bead between the deck and hull onto the form and then press the deck and hull tight to the form quickly before the glue cools and sets up. By doing one form at a time this should not be difficult.
After the glass work is done on the out side the spreader sticks work very well for maintaining the correct dimension between the edges. That method has been used by many builders with success.
