: Ok, I finally got in a few miles on the new kayak so I will declare
: it a launching even though I am still doing some detailing.

: This is a commercially built kayak and I have been involved
: throughout so I offer up the slideshow for those curious about
: making plugs, molds and kayaks from fiberglass.

: I have had it out the past two Saturdays and have fine tuned the
: trim to the point that I can surf small waves forward and
: backwards, make fast turns and still get decent speeds over all.
: Looking for a bit more wind and waves now.

: Brandon Nelson raced the first Grand Illusion in the Deception Pass
: Dash last weekend and won the sea kayak class, which proves two
: things. One, it is the motor that counts and two, that for a big
: maneuverable expeditioning sea kayak this is also respectfully
: fast.

: Hope others find this interesting and that the slideshow captures
: the phases.

: A big thank you to Sterling Donalson for letting me learn from his
: project.

Very interesting shape at the cockpit, not seen that done before, or perhaps didn't notice it if I did .
