Looking at surfski's was one of the things I did for this design. The bow has quite some flare and volume but little overhang (is that the right word) to keep the waterline long. As far as I found, the high performance ski's like those from Futura, Epic or Fenn have a similar steep and high bow. Most have more flare from just before the cockpit. That is quite logical, you need a really narrow waterline to get 6.4 m of hull into the water at below 100 kg load. For me that is more difficult, and I do not want a really narrow waterline anyway.
I am not to afraid of burrying te bow. The epic 18x, a quite smlilar design but not hard shined has just been paddled around Australia solo ( a magnificent effort), so it should not be to bad in waves.
Of course I am not supposing that my first born is as good as that...
