: Can you post any photos of you rope coaming lips? I want to see how
: to sew one in place.

On my son's Sea Flea, I drilled two sets or rows of holes on the wood coaming ring. The lower row was to sew the coaming to the skin, and the upper row was for the sewing of the rope lip to the coaming ring. I used artificial sinew to sew the coaming to the skin, and I used a doubled (or tripled...I forget...) length of dental floss to sew the rope to the coaming. I put a bead of "marine Goop" on the already varnished coaming and set the rope in it then ran a few stitches, Goop, a few stitches....
I ran the stitches through the rope, through the coaming holes to the inside of the coaming, along the interior of the coaming to the next hole, out the hole through the rope and out, then back through the rope into the same hole of the coaming and along the interior of the coaming.... It was then varnished, with the rope soaking up some varnish and sealing it further to the coaming.... It seems to have worked.
There are a couple of pics at the link
