When I built my first kayak I had to work a few nights in temperatures around 5 degrees Celcius.
I was using ordinary PVA wood glue which was not supposed to be used below 15C. It seemed to go chalky white and showed no sign of setting.
I found that If I warmed the glued joint with the heat gun just enough to make the glue begin to go a bit clear, that was enough to start it setting.
That kayak is still going strong 6 years later.
