: Having completed my Guillemot, I am being quietly urged to strip
: build a double for my son and grandson. They are age 35 &
: 230lbs, and a 2yr old todler, he'll be older by the time the
: build is complete. The boat would be used mainly on small inland
: waters.
: I thought first about a microbootlegger, then wondered if
: stretching a Great Auk to say 18ft 6" and doing some calcs
: to position two cockpits might be a better option. A small
: amount of ballast under the little one could be added and
: decreased as he grows!
: Is this a reasonable option? Has anyone tried it? Is there any
: other suitable route that I should consider? Thoughts please!
Would require a heck of alot of ballast. I'd be more thinking of a long single cockpit and once the grandson grows he'll want his own one anyway then the original could still be used by your son.
