On my Petrel I used the following sequence ...
1. Sanded & glassed the outside of the hull prior to stripping the deck. Filled the weave.
2. Stripped the deck.
3. Separated the hull & deck, removed all forms.
4. Sanded & glassed the inside of the hull and deck. Caution is needed here for the deck, but it's stronger than you might think.
5. Bonded deck to hull with FG tape on interior seams. Spreader sticks were used on the hull where required. I don't think the deck had distorted at all.
6. Glass the deck. This sequence allows the deck glass to be lapped over the hull a couple of inches for added strength to the hull/deck joint.

I thought this was pretty much the standard approach. Worked fine for me. I know I must be reading you wrong, but if you glass the outside of the deck to a few inches below the hull shear line then they won't separate. (?)
