Greetings, I'm looking to build my first SOF and have decided to embark on a Yost-style build. I currently have a plastic Scupper Pro sit on top and want to go faster. I mostly paddle San Diego coastline. I would like to build the Nikumi with a 22" coaming which is mentioned on Tom's site (Thank you for that site!!) but the cross-section spacing seems to be for a 32" coaming. Do I adjust frame 4 so that it is 22" from frame 5 or are there separate offsets/spacing available? I would think that just moving the frame 10" would mess up the design. I'm also considering using the Nikumi 19 as a starting point and taking an inch or two out between the frames (not 4 and 5) to bring the length down to fit my work area- can't go much over 17'. I figure an inch or two won't make as much difference to the overall form as a 10" move.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks, Scott
